Agile Mindset
ECBA Series #002
The Agile Mindset is based on a common core of human values that include respect, courage, collaboration, continuous learning, customer focus, and value maximization. The main aspects of an agile mindset include:
deliver value rapidly and consistently;
collaborate courageously;
iterate to learn;
simplify to avoid waste;
consider context and adapt to realties;
reflect on feedback and adapt both product and process; and
produce the highest quality products.
The Story
Let me tell you an example of a team who treasures agile mindset. At a time when I am a Project Manager for an eCommerce Development team, we study and apply agile in our development cycles. Every sprint, we gather in a meeting called Sprint Review in order to identify what we have done so far, and to brainstorm and bring new ideas to improve after our not-too-good activities.
We always welcome new members with active and contributive, sometimes provoking comments to the team / the working process(es). The Scrum Burn-down helps us see what we have done and what are still our "debt” for our next Sprint(s).
We communicate with transparency and honesty in mind. In daily scrum meetings, we keep remind ourselves about how important it is to accept new changes and upgrade both knowledge and skills over time.
At the end of the project, we deliver a real eCommerce shop with our the quality we believe it is the highest we can achieve together.
